  • FAQs

    • What Does it Cost to Consult with One of Your Pocatello Attorneys?
Typically, we charge $100 for a 1/2 hour consultation with us. Sometimes, depending on case type and risk involved, we will waive the consultation fee.
    • What is a Consultation, Exactly?
A consultation is a meeting between you and the attorney for you to discuss the facts of your case. The attorney will analyze the issues, and will advise you the likelihood of success on the case, the other side's likely arguments, and the potential risks and costs of the representation.
    • Will You Charge Me Money Up Front to Hire One of Your Lawyers?
Under most circumstances, yes. Our firm often requires a retainer which we will bill against on an hourly basis for our services. But, there are certain cases that we take on a contingency basis. This means that we will not be paid our fee until we resolve or receive a judgment on your case. The attorney will decide if he/she is willing to take the case on a contingency or hourly basis.
    • Can I Pay You to Just Give Me Forms to Let Me Represent Myself?
We cannot ethically give you forms that we create. Besides, Abraham Lincoln wisely stated, “He who represents himself has a fool for a client." We agree with Honest Abe.
    • A Police Officer is Telling Me that if I Talk to Him, I Will Not Be Arrested. Do I Really Need a Lawyer?
Police officers are trained interrogators who typically know the law better than you do. They are also allowed to LIE to you to obtain information. Always ask for counsel to assist you, or you might be setting yourself up for criminal charges you could avoid. "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt." Abraham Lincoln said this too, and once again, we agree.
    • Are the Attorneys at MR&W Aggressive?
Aggressive is a subjective term. We are professionals and will work for you for every advantage we can - ethically and legally. Each attorney in our firm has a different personality, but each is dedicated to getting you the best result possible - and brings a different approach to doing it. We will do our best to match you with the proper skill set and personality to insure effective representation.
    • Can I and My Soon-to-Be Ex-Spouse Jointly Hire an Attorney to Draft Up the Divorce Papers?
In Idaho, attorneys can only represent one party or the other to avoid conflicts of interest. Our attorneys can only represent one party, and must inform the other party that they can have the paperwork reviewed by independent counsel.
    • Attorneys Never Return Calls. Is MR&W Any Different?
Yes. If we are not in court, or otherwise absent from the office, we strive to return calls and e-mails within one business day. We know legal issues are difficult on our clients' lives, and we want to help them through the process in every way we can within professional bounds.
    • What is a Paralegal?
A paralegal is a trained individual that operates under the license of an attorney. A paralegal cannot give legal advice, but, is a person that can be contacted for drafting of documents, procedural questions, and just generally another available person to contact if your attorney is assisting other clients.
